Florence & Pisa, Italy – September 2013

After spending an entire week in NYC it was time to move on to the longest and most exciting part of our travel plans: Italy! The first stop on our bellissima Italia trip was Florence. We arrived in Rome from NYC and took a train directly to Florence. We spent 4 days there including a day trip to Pisa as well. We were quite exhausted already after spending a week on our feet in New York but it didn’t really matter…we were in Italy! Andy took a couple of days to adjust to the time change and we had a few sleepless nights because of that. But nothing some extra espressos and cappuccinos didn’t fix!

The weather was nice and cool, the food was carb loaded, and the city was gorgeous. We loved all the little plazas everywhere and the city life! And did I mention we had gelato pretty much every day? Amazing!

Our day trip to Pisa was great as well. We debated whether it was worth doing it due to mixed reviews online but very glad we did. Pisa was incredible and seeing the leaning tower was definitely a highlight of the trip. I mean, how can you not go see that? It was a simple 1-2 hour train ride away from Florence. Traveling by train in Europe is the most convenient thing and I only wish we had a better train system here across the US. The train was always fast, easy, and extra fun for an already train-obsessed toddler whose obsession started with the NYC subway system!

I’ll stop rambling now. Enjoy the pictures!

Here’s the famous David, even though we weren’t supposed to photograph it. Oops! :)
